During every single social gathering (family or friends), talks of weight loss/gain always come up.
It goes like this..
Who looks like has put on a few pounds?
Who has lost a few pounds?
now, Let’s make comments and make sure those people know that we have noticed their weight gain or loss.
Have we ever considered the fact that
It is really not our business AT ALL.
Every time we make a comment or receive one, it just makes us..
Lets ask ourselves,
Have I ever made a comment about someone’s weight and made them uncomfortable?
Why did I feel the need to make a comment?
How often do I give compliments to people?
Its time to set some boundaries!
Other people’s weight is not our business.
And our weight is not their business.
Let's fix this conditioning that our culture has created where we feel it is okay to cross ALL kinds of boundaries and make whatever comments come to our heads.
Let's become more conscious to maintain these boundaries. And Instead, try this,
“You look amazing”
“You are a great friend”
“You inspire me”
“You are smart”
“You make me laugh”
“That outfit looks beautiful on you”
Remember, every time we bring up someone’s weight or our own, what we are really saying is...
“I feel insecure”.
So, love yourself and let others love themselves too.
